Our Lyre Pinot Noir is sourced from a small, low yielding block located on the Eastern boundary of Pipers Brook Vineyard. Only produced in exceptional vintages, this wine displays all the classic hallmarks of fine and elegant Tasmanian Pinot Noir. The perfumed bouquet of violet, dark cherries, truffles and gamey notes are balanced by the fine cashmere tannins and rich savoury finish.

Vineyard Notes
Our Pioneering Vineyard with vines ageing up to 40 years consistently provides concentration and depth of character. The old vines with naturally low yields, which adds richness, complexity and longevity to the wines. The Pipers Brook Vineyard site, close to bass straight is subject to strong maritime influences. Ferrisol soils offer excellent water holding capacity providing a steady supply of moisture and nourishment throughout the growing season. This allows the grapes to be dry grown with balanced vegetative growth for optimal flavor development and ripening. The vines are meticulously hand-tended and grown on Lyre trellises which helps to expose the ripening bunches to the sun, thus achieving full ripeness and well-balanced flavours. The fruit was hand picked late in April.
Winemaker Notes
The selective vineyard site was handpicked to give small parcels of pristine fruit. The grapes are chilled before careful de-stemming to give whole berries for cold soak of 5-7 days to allow lush textual richness to release from the skins. These berries are then fermented in small open vats at 28-30 deg C, followed by some post ferment cap-sink and maceration on skins. The wine is then basket pressed and transferred to fine grain French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and ageing in our cool underground cellars for a duration of 12 months prior to bottling.
