2016 Brut Rosé

2016 Brut Rosé

A rich and luxurious wine that captures the beauty of Tasmania. This sparkling rose, carefully crafted from single site Pinot Noir, delivers layers of elegant and complex flavours. Fresh strawberries, hints of rose petal and Turkish delight with creamy texture and fine natural acidity that shows purity and finesse – a gorgeous sparkling wine that shows why the Pipers Brook region is acclaimed around the world.

"Pure and unadulterated pinot noir from the Kreglinger vineyard captures the character and restraint of Piper’s River in exacting detail and ultra-pale salmon hue. Understated red apple and strawberry hull unite with subtle spice. Masterfully assembled by Australia’s queen of sparkling rosé, Natalie Fryar, it exemplifies an effortless marriage between the cool acidity of Piper’s River, the creamy texture of lees age (just over three years), immaculately handled, fine-grained tannins and perfectly gauged dosage. A gorgeous rosé that confirms Kreglinger’s place in Tasmania’s A-league."

Vineyard Notes
This vintage Kreglinger sparkling Rosé is sourced from a single vineyard of the same name, with high-density Pinot Noir of significant vine age, specifically established and managed for sparkling wine production in the Pipers Brook district. The site was chosen for our vintage sparkling Rosé program after many years of rigorous trialling and evaluation. Annual heat summation figures of 950-1050 growing degree days Celsius compare very favourably with sites in Champagne (around 1030 GDD). The Pipers Brook district is characterised by Ferrosol (volcanic) soils, also known as kraznozems. Basalt-derived, they have excellent water holding capacity, offering a steady supply of moisture and nourishment to vines that are managed without irrigation. Vertical Shoot Positioned (VSP) trellises of very high vine density are hedge-trimmed in summer to provide increased bunch exposure to the sun. Row-spacings are narrow at 1.5 metres.
Winemaker Notes
A single site of exceptional Pinot Noir was chosen to create this wine, hand harvested and very gently whole bunch pressed. Only the very finest of the juice was taken for 100% barrel fermentation in aged French oak, where the wine was matured for 9 months as the wine underwent malolactic fermentation to create the exceptional texture and creaminess we see today. Only the best barrels were then selected to create the final blend, and the complete wine was bottled, underwent secondary fermentation in bottle and aged on lees for 3 years delivering beauty and complexity.
