Save 50% off this unique varietal, Senior Winemaker Luke Whittles pick of the bunch: "Try pairing this with aromatic food that packs a punch, like a red fish curry, or Vietnamese-Style Jumbo Shrimp on sugarcane - you'll find the beautiful acidity and texture of this wine will work perfectly against these sorts of flavours!"

Intensely aromatic with notes of Turkish Delight, rose petal, candied lemon Peel and pink flowers. Enticing flavours of citrus, rosewater and lanolin. A brief period of skin contact imparts subtle mid palate texture. A clean dry finish displays the essence of our natural cool climate acidity.

Minimum order of 6 bottles per varietal, available in further multiples of 6 for this special offer. $5 freight per carton of 6.

Tasting Notes
Aroma: Turkish delight, rose petal, candied lemon peel and pink flowers Palate: Flavours of citrus and rosewater, lanolin and subtle textural elements from skin contact flow into a crisp dry finish.
Vineyard Notes
Produced from Gewürztraminer wine grapes sourced from a small single vineyard block A1, at Pipers Brook, first planted in 1974. Close proximity to the sea gives these vines a distinctly cool maritime climate and a protracted growing season, with gradual flavour and sugar accumulation and steady, incremental development of the variety’s characteristic aromas of rose petal and musk. Sites in the Pipers Brook district feature Ferrosol (volcanic) soils, also known as kraznozems. Basalt-derived, they have excellent water holding capacity, offering a steady supply of moisture and nourishment to vines that are managed without irrigation. Vines are grown on cane-pruned, Vertical Shoot Positioned (VSP) trellises that are hedge-trimmed in summer to provide increased bunch exposure to the sun. Row-spacings are narrow, typically 1.8 metres. Gewürztraminer is a fickle variety that sets a low number of berries per bunch, resulting in yields that are typically less than 3 tonnes/hectare.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were chilled naturally by early morning harvesting, then processed without delay. Whilst in the press, the fruit underwent a short period of skin contact to extract additional aroma and flavour compounds locked away in the skins. This helps create a spicier, more complex Gewürztraminer with good richness and textural mouthfeel. Bright clarified juice was fermented slowly at low temperature in stainless steel vessels to maximise freshness and retain the variety’s opulent fruit aromas and flavours. Bottled early under Screwcap to lock in freshness.
